Martin Polaine is a lawyer of 30 years’ experience and a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (ACIArb). He has advised states, corporates and NGOs in Africa, Asia and Europe on public international law and international/transnational criminal law. His work has included treaty negotiation and drafting, international human rights law, the law of armed conflict, anti-corruption, counter-terrorism, countering maritime piracy, international co-operation in criminal matters, international sanctions, statehood/the recognition of states, immunities and international dispute resolution (including ICSID). He also has a strong and complementary background as a practising barrister and former senior prosecutor.
