Under the MCPD scheme introduced by the SA Law Society,
Limits on certain forms of CPD activity
Under the Law Society of Tasmania’s Continuing Professional Development Scheme (Practice Guideline No. 4), a legal CPD activity is defined in clause 2.4 and includes:
In calculating the minimum 10 CPD points of CPD activity in respect of a CPD year, the total points must not include more than:
(a) four CPD points for preparing material for a seminar, workshop, lecture, conference, educational program or course or discussion group as referred to in sub rule 2.4(a); or
(b) five CPD points for viewing or listening to, or preparing material for, a multi-media, television or web-based program or recorded material as referred to in sub rule 2.4(c); or
(c) five CPD points of CPD activity referred to in sub rule 2.4(b) of the definition of CPD activity; or

How many points do I get for completing a course?
You can claim one point for one hour of training. Generally CPD Interactive courses take one hour to complete, therefore most people claim one point per course. If, however, you take two hours to complete a course, then contact us and we will issue a certificate that reflects the correct CPD point allocation.
Please note you must read/view all content and complete all activities.
Can these points count towards my compulsory CPD or CLE points?
Yes. CPD or CLE is self-assessed. This means that you determine whether the subject matter of the course is relevant to your particular needs, and claim the amount of time it took you to finish the course. One hour = one point.
Online learning is a recognised way of obtaining CPD points, under the Continuing Professional Development Rules 2009 made by the Law Institute of Victoria, or equivalent CPD or CLE rules in the jurisdiction relevant to you. However, note each jurisdiction has it’s own rules and limits around online activities.
Is CPD Interactive accredited to provide CPD or CLE training?
Western Australia is the only state that requires accreditation. You can only complete courses that have been reviewed or updated in the last 12 months.
Under the rules of other jurisdictions you record your own CPD activity and, upon renewing your practising certificate each year, certify that you have completed the required units. CPD Interactive provides courses in each of the required fields under the rules. Experts in their respective fields provide content for CPD Interactive courses. This includes advocacy, electronic litigation and managing diversity in the workplace.
Please note the rules are different in each jurisdiction.
