Tom has a general public and commercial law practice. He has particular interests in Commonwealth constitutional and administrative law (including migration and veterans’ entitlements) and taxation; and in class actions, shipping / maritime law, industrial law and general commercial litigation.
He is available to advise, draw paperwork and appear (including in mediations) in any area appropriate to his expertise.
Before coming to the Bar in 2012, Tom was a solicitor in government practice; he was also the Associate to the Hon D M Ryan QC, then a judge of the Federal Court, and a researcher in the New South Wales registry of that Court. He took his Arts (History) and Law (Hons) degrees from the Australian National University. He has been a reporter for the Australian Law Reports, the Australian Companies and Securities Reports and the Administrative Law Decisions series, and a contributing editor of the Lexis commentary on Part IVA of the Federal Court Act.
He read with Lachlan Armstrong QC. His senior mentor is the Solicitor-General, Richard Niall QC.
